I use the U2711, but as someone pointed out, the U2713HM is likely to be better if you don't need wide gamut (sounds like you don't). Haven't used any of the others before, but the HP ZR2740w is another one to consider if you can get it cheap.
I've had my HP ZR2740w for 6 months now and it's a great monitor once adjusted. I would recommend getting a Spyder or similar calibrator. For gaming, it has lower input lag compared to the Dell by a decent amount.
Haven't checked, but I'm assuming so. Kinda sucks that Haswell and the 7xx series are 3- 6 months away at best. I can't bring myself to get a 6xx series Nvidia card. It goes against my 'every other generation' upgrading pattern.
ok so the asus PB278Q absolutely blows me away. no dead pixels, great backlighting, no noticeable ghosting in games. oh and like 40 acres of screen real estate. love it love it love it!
