256 ram chip only recognized as 128

Bought a 256 meg 133 Kingston ValueRAM from OM, installed in a BE6-II. It is only recognized as a 128 meg. The chips are Nanya, checked their web site and the chips are correct, it is a 256 meg. Any suggestions?

i got a 256 MB chip at staples for my mom. Those are PNY's and her motherboard is old enough that it apparently can't handle the memory as 256 and just sees it as 128. For $10, we weren't going to complain since its still a boost. Check for a bios update as suggested above, make sure the memory is seated right, try another memory slot. In my case, we just gave up and accepted the 256 chip as 128.

Yeah, had the same problem with a friends Dell 200 MMX, 440BX IIRC, with PNY memory.
