256 mb video card

Hi All,
I am planning on using divx ver 6 to convert my dvd's to divx. I'm wondering if using a 256 mb video card will be faster than using a 128 mb card.
Will the extra 128 ram be used.
Does the core and memory speed really have anything to do with how fast you can encode
Thanks for you help, truly appreciated
Ed
Sorry almost forgot to ask. Does it matter much if it's 256 or 128 bit bus

I don't think that the video card will even make a difference as it does not have hardware to do divx encoding. I believe that the only function a card will serve, is during playback. As long as the hard has support for your formats playback. Like Mpeg-2 playback with purevideo on the Nvidia side.

With divx, you video card won't help with encoding speed. Your cpu and system ram can affect the performance.
