Link to product info

I would have bought this except I already have a 256 MB Lexar Jumpdrive Pro.

I was in Costco a few days ago and I saw this drive. I think it's $49, but my memory fails me so it might be somewhere between $49 and $59. Excellent price for a good looking product. This is also one of the smaller USB 2.0 flash drives that I've seen. Much less bulky than my Jumpdrive Pro. I didn't see it offered online.

So is this really USB 2.0? "It says USB2.0 Certified" Didn't I read that that doesn't actually mean that it will do USB 2.0?

*Mubles to self* I swear I read that somewhere...

Anyhow, Seems like a good price, and really when you are transferring only 128 MB, I don't think I mind the USB 1.1 wait..... -TAL

You'll notice it has the Hi-Speed USB logo. That is supposed to mean that it will do 480 mb/sec.

BTW, I had a USB 1.1 drive. Having Hi-Speed USB is like night and day. I can work with Solidworks assemblies (3-D CAD Modeling software) directly off the Jumpdrive, and it is like I'm using a normal hard drive.

If you don't have membership or don't have a Costco nearby next week Staples will have the 128MB version for $25 after MIR.

I'll have to go pick one up. Looks great.

If you don't have a Costco Membership, Ask to go to the membership counter. Once there tell them you are interested in membership and ask for a guest membership. It is good for a one time purchase. Payment is Only AMEX, ATM Debit, Check or Cash.

I saw this at Costco today. I'm kicking myself for getting a Jumpdrive Secure (usb 1.1) from Dell SB last week.
This is not your original (read: big and bulky) Cruzer. This is a very nice, slim drive. Very good deal.

Can you please clarify if this is the Cruzer or the Cruzer Mini since your title say's Cruzer but the link is to the Mini. The Cruzer uses SD Memory while the mini looks like a standard USB Memory.

Thanks.

It's the mini one. Doesn't look like you can upgrade the memory, but this one is MUCH smaller than the original upgradeable one. USB2.0 High speed too.

Yup - picked one up today - it's the small one, it is 2.0 certified and also comes with 2 end-caps (having used a lexar jumpdrive I appreciate that since I already lost two endcaps of those drives :()

Got one earlier during Georgia's no sales tax holiday. Beware some Costco cashier don't know about the exemption on computer memory and will still charge you sales tax- unfortunately Costco doesn't do tax holiday exemptions in their POS system.

I guess flash memory speed is the limiting factor here.

About 3X faster for USB 2.0 vs USB 1.1, also faster copying from flash to HD than from HD to USB flash drive

117MB 26 files MP3 copied TO memory USB 256MB

2:03 for the reversed operation TO HD
2:41 on ECSK7S5A USB 1.1 port to USB flash

117MB 26 files MP3 copied from USB to A7N266VM with NEC USB 2.0 port on PCI bus

0:41 on A7N266VM USB 2.0 port TO HD
0:51 for the reversed operation (TO USB flash)

Just so you know, Sandisk has questionalbe quality. A lot of people with pocketpc's are getting mad because their little drives are dying. Just check the forums over at aximsite.com

I have the original one, and even though it's larger than many other drives on the market, I like the fact that I can upgrade (I've already done it once). The other feature I like is that it comes with a short 3" USB extension cord that I can carry with the drive. I've found instances where some of the smaller drives won't fit in some USB ports because of other equipment. The small extension cable makes the difference.

Just my $.02. Good find, btw.

??? I have my 256MB SD in my iPaq with no problems (almost a year old). In fact I have had one 32MB CF card for two years with no problems. I did have issues with my 8-1 USB 2.0 reader but after talking with their tech support and getting a firmware update everything now works fine (an actual person that knows what they are talking about too).
