You can't use the zdnet link, use the link from Dealspree's site.

Great deal on memory to go with my Inspiron 8100.

be sure to know this...
laptop memories are NOT backward compatible.
so pc133 sticks will NOT work pc100 laptops.

I don't know about this. I bought this memory from crucial.com (256MB, PC133) for my Dell Inspiron 5000 P3 650 that uses PC100 and it works flawlessly alongside the original 64MB PC100 that came with the laptop.

Hmm can someone help me out here?

Does this thingy work in Compaq1216US, Duron 900 mhz? I think it uses PC100 memory now. If it works I am in on this deal.

TIA

I bought a stick of this a week ago for my brand new Inspiron 8100 and it works great! I just ordered a second stick. Most PC133 ram will also run at 100. This is good stuff and will most likely be backwards compatable. Dell uses and recommends Crucial memory themselves.

Hey all

Got a quick question.....can anyone tell me if these are 30mm tall? I know it sounds odd, but I want to order one for an iBook and that's what it calls for. I've never actually bought memory for a laptop before and I've heard that there can be different heights from somewhere.

Thanks!

I think according to crucial site. It probably is 1inch tall which is about 30mm. So I guess it works for you. Can someone else try to help the guy out?

That's what I when I tried to order a 256MB stick for my Compaq EVO N400c lappie, whose corresponding part# is CT231029 (instead of CT230556). Does anyone know if the #CT230556 would work with my EVO notebook? I feel tempted to just order the #CT230556 and return it if it doesn't work.

Good question. I have a Gateway laptop and the memory that I bought from BestBuy were about 4mm taller than the original. I got em in there allright, but I had to bend some tabs and use a little force.

This ram is backward compatible. I used it in an older Compaq that calls for PC66, and it works fine.

Hey guys

Thanks for trying, but I think I may be able to answer my own question! ;)

I got a support gal from crucial on with me and according to her the RAM is 100% compatible with my iBook! Woohoo for cheap ram!

Thanks for the deal!
