256 colors disapeared-now only 16 colors....help please !!

I usually operate @600x800 with 256 colors...
But switched on yedterday.....16 colors and when I try and change there is only 16 colors option in the drop down menu.
I don't have a video card.
Any Ideas please. Thanks:frown:

hmm how come you have a display on you monitor if you have no video card????

Because it has onboard graphics built in...all you can see is a large gold chip with 3DVision on the top !

Try reinstalling the driver that is already in your computer. It should work.. Go to your display property, go to settings, advanced, adapter, and look for the its video driver(s) and reinstall the driver you had before. it may or may not work..

What os are you running? And I imagine this onboard graphics runs as an AGP device. I had problems with Windows95 with AGP.

Thanks for the suggestion - I reloaded the driver and it worked !!!
Thr hatd drive seems to be on it's way out though, it bleeps contiuously when I switch on, but after a couple of attempts it fires up.
