255$ deal from a friend

Just like it says, one of my friends whose parents always buy him the latest and greatest is going to upgrade this weekend (or maybe next) and offered me his old setup pretty cheap.
The MSI board is a little damaged (only will recognize 2gb of ram) but I only plan to use two and that is its only problem, but everything else is good as new. You guys thing i should jump on this deal? He had his E6400 over 3ghz using that mobo, and the same ram that im going to buy, so its a decent chip.

An E6400 is his old setup?! :Q Well, it's lucky for some, isn't it. What're you getting, just the CPU/Motherboard/PSU?

Bring him down to $240 if he's not giving you any RAM with it. Say because the motherboard is damaged that if anything else goes wrong with it you can't send it back under warranty.

kk, i have been out of computers for a little while and it sounded like a good deal. Yeah, hes keeping his 4gbs of ram (I tried to talk him into selling it to me for 100$ but he said he still wanted it =( ) But yeah i think hes going to get that quad core CPU, his parents let him have the mastercard whenever he wants. Lucky guy huh.

You should talk him down to like <$100 then rma the mb for replacement if it's less than 2 years old since msi has 3yr warranty. 3rd year you pay for labor which makes me buy a new mb.

I know the Mobo is stable, but it just doesnt recognize more than 2gbs of ram. But it is the 975x board, maybe i should talk him into like 175 for the processor and powersupply and just pick up a new EVGA 680i board.
