250Watt power supply enough for 9500pro??

Hello all,
I have a 250Watt powersupply and i was wondering if it would be able to accomodate a saphire 9500pro??? Also you should note that i am not running any extra fans, SCSI controllers or anything. I have an ecsk7s5a with an athlon 1700+ and stock hsf. Thanx.

Highly questionable. I've seen plenty of 300 and 350 watt PSUs that were marginal with lesser CPUs and video cards.

To put it more bluntly: No freaking way.

I think a 300watt psu is recommended, but you could try and see. There are plenty of people out there running 9700pros in their shuttle systems with 250w or less, but I don't know if they are having problems.

250w might be enough if it's a quality one. If it's a cheapo generic one though, no way. Even with a quality one it probably isn't really enough. You should probably look at either upgrading the psu or getting a card that uses less power.

I've got a high quality 250W power supply running my system with 3 hard disk, DVD, CD-RW plus P4 and a Ti4600 with no probs. Its not just quantity (watts) its also quality🙂

From what I have read about the motherboard you have ( which is quite a bit because I have built several systems using that board) you are lucky that it runs. A lot of the problems with that board is associated with the PS. Most of the recomendations are 350W. Just something to think about.

You may want to do a search in the motherboard forum for k7s5a for more information.
