That 250GB Hitachi looks good for $99.99
It may be best to skip the hassles that can be associated with Seagate rebates. Based on comments made in this forum, Seagate seems to be handling their rebates in an intentionally dishonest way. They are failing to make good on rebates that should have been paid months ago.

Nice look Lars. Hitachi drives with the 2 MB cache have one year warranty, and Hitachi drives with the 8 MB cache get the 3 year warranty. May as well go with the Seagate if there was a choice between the two. I know a few have been compaining about Seagate rebate but I've received mine in a timely manner. One of my two Seagate 120 GB Fry's BF rebates came in less that two months after I mailed it, the other is still processing. A third rebate with Seagate came in the allotted time.

Also, anyone near a Fry's probably has this on sale. 200 GB Maxtor for 89.99 out the door. There is even a post that someone PM'd the Staples price to Fry's 89.99 and used a coupon for more $ off.

Just checked, the Hitachi in the link is a 1 year warranty, 2MB cache drive. That makes it a no go for me - the 1 year warranty, not the 2MB cache;)

I picked one up yesterday (in-store) and it's the 8MB cache version with the 3-year warranty

well heck, in that case I'll check up on it, a 250GB 8MB cache 3 year warranty drive isn't a bad deal!
