2500k + mugen 2 rev.B - temperatures question

Hi,

I have 2500K Oc'ed to 4Ghz with voltage 1,24V and after 7 hours of prime95 blend test my temps reached max 70C. Isn't it a liitle to high for mugen 2 ?

My case is a cooler master elite 331 with one fan in front pulling air inside and one in the back pushing it out. I do think of changing my case to SilentiumPC Regnum L50 but anyway, how about these temps ? I have only 1 fan with mugen. When I turn off the test the temps drop instantly to 45 and then to around 40 (during normal usage). Could this be a sign of too much thermal paste? I spreaded it on the cpu with my finger (in plastic glove) in a way that if I wanted to spread it more I could see the cpu (although the layer wasn't almost transparent) I've just read that the break-in period is 200h. I have the paste spreaded since last wednesday. Maybe the paste just didn't gain it's full properties yet?

Maybe it's because the paste has like 1,5 year? It's been closed and in a dark place but anyway ? The thermalpaste is Arctic Silver 5.

Oh and one more thing - there's an info on the artctic silver page how to correctly apply the thermal paste to the cpu and they recommend just doing a strip and mounting the sink withouth spreading the thermal paste. I've always been said to spread it. What do you think ?
