Thats great . Make sure all 4 cores are running and don't do vid until Prime has run for at least 4 yours . If that cpu can do that I will happly trade you mine +$100.

No trade! you can get from MC for $179 as same batch number. IBT and prime95 which program offer more stress to CPU? I will leave my PC on tonight, and take VD tomorrow.
 
Here is a little update on my endeavors. I just tried OC'ing to 5ghz and it posted. I upped my offset from -.100 on a 4.5ghz OC to +.5 for the 5 ghz. It posted, and ran three instances of IBT before it blue screened.

Here are some information on how IBT went: (I did not take a screen shot because I was waiting for it to succeed first, which it never did)

Temps: Averaged in the mid 80's
Vcore: Was using 1.34v when IBT was running.
IBT: Ran for 3 correct tests and then blue screened during the 4th

Do you guys think I should up my offset and see if I can get it to be stable? It is already running pretty hot...

Offset of +.5 or +.05? +.5 is way too much.
On my ASRock board, it has auto overclock values from 4GHz to 4.8GHz.
When it is set to 4.8GHz the voltage offset is +.095, 4.6GHz uses +.075.

Right now I am using the Auto 4.6GHz overclock.
Have ran IBT with 100 runs and Custom 12000MB set. No BSOD and took about 13 hours for it to do the 100 runs. Have also done Prime Small and In-Place for 24 hours with no BSDO. That tell me the system is very stable. If IBT crashes after 3 runs or Prime crashes after a few hours, the system isn't stable.

I do not remember exactly what I set the offset to. I am thinking that I set it to +.5, but I did it in one quick swoop so I cannot say for sure what it was. I'll have to take another look at it sometime this week.

Since it did not passed IBT and since the temperatures were already so high, that makes me hesitant about pushing it any further since I do not want to ruin a perfectly good system.
 
Okay, I have a thread about this over at Tom's Hardware as well and it was closed because I started getting flamed with posts saying that I am lying, and that I am photoshopping my screen shots.

Since I cannot post there anymore I wanted to ask you guys what other proof I could provide to show that my OC is valid and stable? I PMed the MOD to open up the thread again, so if he does open it up again I want to post some last definitive proof to show that my OC is valid. All of the pictures I posted here, I posted there. So, I do not get how you guys accept it as valid and on the thread over there I am getting flamed.
 
Settle down . Your taking it to personnal. Does it really matter what anyone else believes . As long as you know its the truth don't take it so hard. Its not like your spaming. The people here are more open minded . Its likely you got a great batch and center chip off the waffer.

lol don't get me wrong. I'm not offended by what they say. I just wanna post some proof so that they can either valid that what I did is right, and I do have a stable system, or so that they can tell me that I did something wrong so I can fix it. Since this is my first time I would like some validation on whether or not what I am doing will not ruin my system is all.

CPUZ validation doesn't really prove much of anything beyond that you were stable long enough to connect to the validation site..

...is headed in the right direction, but to show it is stable, it needs to show a few hours instead of a few minutes ..

If it is important to you for people to believe you, you pretty much have to do what they ask ( within reason ) to satisfy them ..

At AnandTech, there are some guidelines for establishing a valid overclock.

If you are not willing to do that, then you are wasting everybody's time...

Beyond that, you should just enjoy your rare chip, and don't worry about what other people think ..

you can get 300 bucks for this chip if it will boot,just boot windows with a 55x multy.

try and set vcore to 1.55 and see how high it will boot into windows.Im betting you have a 54-56x multy chip here and will hit 6ghz with the right cooling.

DO NOT run it under any load at that voltage and just see if you can get into windows at 55x

If your really stable at that voltage and clock that is incredible OC. You have the magic chip,, if you take it to 1.30v you can do 6Ghz easy on that chip,, but you need better cooling,,, gl 😵

I like how some of them don't even believe him and that its "not possible". I have the same batch 2500k as Shoda and I can confirm that it does overclock to 4.5ghz under 1.2v. 🙂 The reason why I scaled mine back to 4.4 because it keeps the cores running cooler at load.

I wouldn't state it that way.

Over here, flaming will get you sanctioned by the mods because it is a violation of our posting guidelines. As is thread-crapping.

So what you see here is a situation where there are going to be some folks equally suspicious of your claims (because until you provide proof, they are just unproven claims) as are the folks at Tom's, but the folks here know better than to flame you or start thread-crapping in your thread.

To put it differently, we are obligated to afford you the freedom of remaining blissfully ignorant if that is what you steadfastly (or stubbornly as some members prove out) insist on doing.

Personally I don't believe anyone's claims as legit until I see a screenshot of their rig fully loaded with LinX, displaying CPUz and Realtemp, and LinX shows that it has already passed >10 cycles with loads and loads of ram (the ALL ram option) being used.

Anything less is just someone trying to skate by with a semi-stable rig that for obvious reasons is not comparable to everyone elses LinX stable OC's. Where things get interesting is when we have members who claim to have super-chips but then they refuse to post up such screenshots...
 
Is it possible he's using the wrong version of CPU-Z? I remember back when I got my i5-2500k, it said I was reaching great speeds at absurdedly low voltages.

My friend experienced this lately as well; he dismissed it to a messed up CPU-Z. Are we saying that there's a specific batch of i5-2500ks that can actually reach higher overclocks?
 
That thread at Tom's was rather mild .. Just a couple of members who found it hard to believe..

Not much different than here..

I do not know what my Vcc is since I did not take down any numbers when running it, because if it failed I was not planning on pushing it any further.

As for my max temp, they were in the high 80's if I remember correctly?
 
You have a good chip, but low voltage chips are over-rated imo. Your chip at 1.18v runs at hot as mine does as 1.35v, and I only use push with a h100. My Q6600 was a low voltage clocker, but I couldn't push it above 1.35v where it ran 3.6ghz, because any more and it ran too hot. Most others who ran 3.6 did it at 1.45v where they had similar temps to me.

But at least you don't have to worry about electromigration. Have fun with it!

My Q6600 is like that too. It does 3.6 easy on sweet low volts, but it also runs hot. Temps with a Tuniq w/stock fan under OCCT:linpack 64-bit load are around 90C.

Yeah, that is what was making me confused. I was using less volts than others, but yet I still had the same temps. I was confused and I thought that CPU-Z must have been reporting it wrong, so that is why I started a thread.

It is odd though. Core Temp says one, CPUZ and HWMonitor say another. 0_0
