Some of EPoX's boards reported the actual, unadulterated, non-candy-coated temperature straight from the on-CPU diode, and everyone freaked out at the truth, which is that AMD CPU cores run in the mid-60C area in reality (barring radical cooling measures).Originally posted by: nboy22

It was brave of EPoX, but the avalanche of posts saying "OMG, MY CPU IS GONNA FRY IT'S RUNNING 66°C HEEELLLLLPPP!" and all the RMAs by people not accustomed to REAL ACTUAL TEMP READINGS forced them to reconsider, and they stopped giving real temp readings and went back to socket-thermistor readings. I suspect that "other" CPU companies' CPUs run a lot hotter at the die surface than we are led to believe, too.
