Some of EPoX's boards reported the actual, unadulterated, non-candy-coated temperature straight from the on-CPU diode, and everyone freaked out at the truth, which is that AMD CPU cores run in the mid-60C area in reality (barring radical cooling measures).

It was brave of EPoX, but the avalanche of posts saying "OMG, MY CPU IS GONNA FRY IT'S RUNNING 66°C HEEELLLLLPPP!" and all the RMAs by people not accustomed to REAL ACTUAL TEMP READINGS forced them to reconsider, and they stopped giving real temp readings and went back to socket-thermistor readings. I suspect that "other" CPU companies' CPUs run a lot hotter at the die surface than we are led to believe, too.

The reason I was using the SMB fan on my heatsink was because my YS Tech adjustable speed fan died. :| That stupid thing cost $11 for Pete's sake. Oh well. I installed the new Coolermaster case fans and used AS5 on the CPU die, and now my CPU temp dropped 10°C. :D Yay. Thanks for everybody's help.

He has a panaflow LIA HEATSINK FAN! omfg that is SOOOO stupid. that is a good QUIET case fan, but it is TOOOO freakin weak for a heatsink fan.

get a better heatsink fan and your problem is solved dude.

i use the panaflo L1A on my slk-800 and it's fine.

i usually idle 38C and when im playing music and doing other things its at 42C ... gaming after load is 47C

i got bored, so im running another prime95 session and it's been priming for 13hours and its only at 46C.

system temp is now at 25C

not too shabby for a low spinning fan.
