its not a huge difference between the two. I'd just grab a 2500 from newegg, now if your even remotely interested in overclocking you should get a 2400 Barton Mobile from newegg. at 1.65V (stock volts on standard XPs) you should withough a problem get 2.1 or 2.2 or if you put the volatage at 1.8-1.9 you should get 2.5-2.7
If you aren't overclocking and plan on keeping the system for a little while, go ahead and grab the 2800+ Barton, it should be a nice chip for pretty much any PC out there!
Yeah, for the non-overclocker, get as fast of a chip as you can afford. A 2800 overclocks very poorly, but if you're sure you don't want the extra, free performance, get the 2800. It's fast enough for most people.
