2500+ vs. 2400+

Since the prices of the AMD XP 2400+ and the 2500+ are about $5 dollars apart now, I'm stuck as to which processor I shoudl get. Although the 2400+ has a higher clock speed (2.0 Ghz), the 2500+ (1.83) has the 333 MHZ FSB. Which one would you all recommend for a gamer and music/video editter such as myself? THANKS :sun:

they don't always overclock better... but they are faster right out of the box..
more cache and higher stock FSB = good.. 😀

Thanks ya'll for your help, i'm gonna get the 2500+..this is gonna be for the system i'm building wiith the following specs:

AMD XP 2500+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
512 Corsair XMS PC3200
120 GB SATA Seagate Barracuda 7200.7
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9500

I know this is a bit off topic, but is the Radeon 9500 128 MB for $149 from newegg worth it, or should I put in about $20 more for the GeForce FX 5600 128 MB?

the maxtor sata hard drive is out for newegg its $189 vs seagates $155 from what i have seen in reviews the maxtor is faster by alot. Also you wont need to buy a power adaptor for the drive the power adaptor is $4 on newegg plus the $5 bucks for shipping it. Read some reviews of maxtor and then reconsider.

I have not read up on the video cards so iam not sure. I have a 4200 and its pretty decent, not the best but decent.

well get the barton duh, it is faster, the PR rating is the order that the processors speed is shown, a 2500 is faster then a 2400 but slower then a 2600.

I think my sarcasm detector is out of calibration again, I can't determine if you were serious or not. Could someone report their detector status for synchronization please? 😉

My XP2500 does quite well at 2.2 Ghz. Just encoded a movie in divx last night... on average I got 70 frames per second.

Acoustics are very important to me, though. I hear the Barracudas are 25 dBs at MAX. And, is SATA over EIDE worth the money (about $40 on newegg.com)? 😕
