When i went to my system properties it read as follows.

Computer:
AMD Athlon(tm)XP
1.09ghz
512MB of RAM


however its a 2500+ Barton core.

how do i change this?

If your motherboard uses an Nforce2 400 chipset, set the FSB to 200, bump the voltage a hair and see what happens.

I wouldn't do that, he didn't say he wanted to overclock. If he wants to overclock, seems to me that there are a few things he has to learn before he does so.
