UPDATE QUESTION: 2500 owners, what is your multiplyer, fsb, and voltage settings?

alrighty, basically i need to know some bios settings, i can set this sucker to 12.5 with the 400mhz fsb and it will show athlon xp 3200+ in the bios screen. it boots up fine but reboots during 3d mark. i can however set it to athlon xp 2700 levels on the multiplyer while setting the FSB to 350. basically, i need to know why i am not hitting 3200 levels stabily and i wonder if there is anything i can tweak in the bios to make it run at higher clockspeeds without lock ups.

number on the Athlon xp 2500 is axda2500dk4d aqxea0327tpcw
A7N8X Deluxe Rev 2.0 (latest bios from ASUS)
1 gb corsair XMS PC3200
Asus V9280TD (geforce4TI4200 8x 128mb, not o/c)
cooling i have a Vantec Tornado fan on the case, also a ThermalRight SLK800 on the barton with a tornado fan on top of it, when i got it at 3200 levels, it only runs at about 53C when on max workload, but it still reboots. voltages are at 1.75. The PSU is a high quality 420Watter with 2 fans on it. Each tornado is capable of moving 84 CFM, so cooling is not a issue

nforce are the latest from nVidia
running the 45.23 dets

ram is set at optimal

Try 200 bus * 11. See what happens.

12.5*200 brings it to 2.5GHz. You can't reasonably expect it to be stable there.

Rgr that, 200 x11 should be good. If it doesn't, there are usually two options A) relax ram timings and B) increase CPU voltage (at your own risk).

no go, how do i relax ram timings, do i bring them up or down in the bios?

btw, does 1.85 volts sound overkill?

Try 200 x 11 and see if you can run it stable at stock voltage, if not increase the voltage. after its stable you can try increasing the multiplier. I think MasterFlash means memory timings, if i'm correct it would be in your bios under the option where you can set the memory speed.

relax ram timings = increment the numbers in bios

1.85V - depends, are you running on stock/HSF? What are your temps like? Its mostly a matter of preference imho... some will tell you religiously that you are damaging your cpu and decreasing its life X number of years, while others will argue that you would have upgraded the proc long before it dies. I'm sure you've heard it all before. That said I find myself belonging in the latter group :) If it's stable with 1.85, go for it.

So, just raise the number a bit to relax it eh?

My 2500+ is running at:

Multiplier = 11
Front Side Bus = 200
Vcore = 1.65V (default)
Vcc = 1.6V (whatever the default is)

This in on my Abit NF7-S R2 BIOS 20 board. This was a completely free overclock for me.

Mine is at 3200+ at 1.7v on a NF7-S. Stock HS/F, 43 degrees idle. Around 50 full load.

More info for you Schadenfroh:

Memory timings: 11-2-2-2.0 (the 11 T(ras) gives the best speed on my system)
Memory voltage: 2.7V
CPU cooled by: Alpha PAL 8045 with a Vantec Stealth 80mm fan
CPU temps: Idle = 43C Loaded = 53C

Are there any other parameters you need?

11 x 211, 1.675 VCORE, 2-3-2-5 timings, vdimm 2.6

35 idle 43 load under prime95.

Any other week44 chips out there to compare? Want to know how lucky I got...

2.2GHz @ 200x11
1.7v
2.5-3-3-11
Some 60mm fan on SLK-700
49/56C ( yeah i know, temps suck :()

=( ... just tried a few test settings.

210 x 11 @ 1.8vcore ... was stable through 4 tests of prime95, opened a few applications and bsod
209 x 11 @ 1.725 .. stable through 4 tests and error

those were the only worthy ones i wanted to try. if im gonna bump from 2200, i want the full extra 100 MHZ.

guess i could try 209 x 11 @ 1.8 .. that's as close to 2300 as it comes.

Set the memory speed to 50% of the FSB. If it still will not do 11x200, then you know it's the CPU.

My 2500+ is doing 3200+ @ 1.75 volts. I'm using a Thermalrite SLK947U heatsink.

12x166 = 2000 @ 1.65
Not stable at any higher frequency at default voltage. In fact, not stable at any higher frequency at any voltage at all!
Speeze WhisperRockII, crunching seti @ 35C.
512x2 Buffalo @ 6-3-3 CL 2.5, Abit NF7 v1.2

11x200 @ 1.65(stock) voltage. 3200+ Tried 2300mhz @ 1.75...but there seems to be vcore fluxes. Backed off.

12.5x166 i have a 1.04 revision a7n8x, and i'd most likely have to volt mod to get higher fsb speeds.

you should check their website. i think that revision can be flashed to support 200 FSB.

A7N8X rev1.04
11.5x200
vcore= 1.775
2-2-2-6

No matter how i set the mem timings I cant get any stability even 1Mhz over 200, I guess its the A7N8X. I'm still pretty happy with this OC though.

a7n8x dlx rev 2.0
10x200
vcore = reads 1.70V in MBM
2-2-3-11

Can't for the life of me get it past 200 though.

It boots at 10.5x200, but reboots & while loading windows

Won't even boot at 11x200 :(

didn't change anything other than multi. :p

will try FSB oc'ing later :D
