2500 or 2600 barton?

Schwan

I see that the 2600 barton is only $25 dollars more than the 2500 on pricewatch. Is it worth the extra money?

And yes I do plan on overclocking.

Ok I did some research and found that the 2600 isn't a barton but just running at 333fsb. right?

Are the only bartons 3000 2800 and 2500?

I wouldn't waste the Xtra $'s, probably CPU with different X's. I would instead pay the little $'s xtra for the retail version of the 2500 and the 3yr warranty.

Currently, only 2500+, 2800+ and 3000+ are of the Barton core.

If you plan on overclocking, just get the AIUHB 2100+, they should do 2.3GHz~2.4GHz with ease. Also, the latest JIUHB 1700+ (DLT3C, 1.5V) are doing very well. I have mine at 2.3GHz (11.5*200) 1.7V now.

Go with the 2500+ barton and oc it up to the 3000+ level without paying for it...the barton core has the 512kb of cache which can be beneficial in certain apps...

But how easy is it to o/c? Im new to all this so go easy on me 🙂
Do I want to use 166 or 200 FSB?

Heres my whole setup:

A7N8X deluxe (1002a)
2x256 CorsairTwinx 3200LLPT
Saphire 9700 pro
Antec True 550
SLK900U with vantec Tornado (I wanted the Stealth)

Im about to pull the trigger on a CPU and gaming is about all I wanna do....other than watching the occasional movie.

thx for any and all help.

FYI, 2500+ Barton just dropped to previous 2400+ prices. Its ~$150 now I believe, I may have to pick one up my self. 😀

Its 5-10% faster in some apps at equal clockspeeds. Its not that I'm unhappy with my T-bred B, but my bros been hounding me for a CPU and to snag one for him when I see a good deal on one. I took a shot at a 1700+ OEM, and it turned out to be a T-bred A, so I sent it back to Newegg less 15% restocking. Now I figure I wouldn't mind a little speed bump, so I'll end up paying only $50 for the upgrade, as my bro will pay me for the 2100+.

Save the cash. Percentage-wise, the cash is better saved to put towards another CPU in the future for the clock/performance difference. As far as overclocing, {H} had an article about three 2500+s they bought with differing overclocking abilities on each. Unfortunately, their site is down now due to server transfer. For OCing, it seems that it may come down to luck-of-the-draw on the Bartons at least for now. (One did very well BTW --up to 3000+ speeds)

Anybody? Ill be ordering a Barton Monday.

I'm in the same boat. I think I'm ordering one tonight.

From what I've read in other threads most bartons should run at 200fsb.
