There might be a difference in viewing angle between the two monitors. That's one thing I would look at. The brightness shouldn't really be an issue unless you are sitting on a bench in direct sunlight.

I want to know that, is the 300 cd/m2 monitor with less contrast ratio can give better picture in dark areas than 250 cd/m2 monitors with high contrast ratio ??

That's

ASUS MK241H Black 24" 2ms HDMI VS ASUS VK246H Black 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI

Dark areas means the My Dell ST2420L monitor is not capable of showing the dark areas in games, movies, images that good like CRT monitors or any other Studio LCD monitors.

The ones you're looking at won't have a good contrast ratio. To answer your question though, brightness increases black typically tends to not look as black.

Tomshardware has some good articles on LCDs with measurements. Most of the specs are unsubstantiated and your typical "2ms" lcd monitor spends about 30% of its grey to grey cycle closer to 10-15ms. Brightness and contrast are often greatly exaggerated.

how about asus VS248H ?? it has 50000000:1 Contrast ratio. It will be better than my Dell monitor.

The Asus ML248h, is it good?? coz the VS series is not available in India.

Can any IPS panel monitor give 5ms response time ?? I was thinking of buying the dell ultra sharp monitor. people say the asus 2ms response time is just an marketing gimmick to sell the monitors.

Not even close. The traditional IPS design has a response time pretty close to 45ms black to black, and 25ms grey to grey. However, the newer designs "overvolt" IPS (shortening its lifespan) to get it a response time under 20ms grey to grey.

Considering even the fastest TN panels can at best hit 5ms for 30% of the grey to grey cycle and should be rated closer to 10+ ms, there's no way IPS can pull it off with over 4,000 times the color depth.

The only thing that's happened in the last 5 years is manufacturers have been cheating like the audio industry keeps making up watts numbers. The original response time measurement was "black to black." Today's TN panels are still no faster than 15ms btb, and IPS panels are over 25ms btb.

IMO all specs beyond panel type, size, and resolution are useless as manufacturers tend to lie about it all.
