i recently built the same pc from parts from newegg for $250.00, but did not get Vista.

Good Deal, But I have seen these deals all the time I was a manager of Office Depot for two years. And most stores only have 2-3 of these machines. And they dont offer rainchecks. And there mail-in rebates suck I got so many :| customers calling about there rebates and the time it took for them to recieve it. And what ever you do dont buy there extended warranty on laptops or desktops. People get the impression that you can bring them in-store and repair them or replace them and we tell you to get lost and call the 1-800 # for help. The laptop warranty doesnt cover the screen you have to pay $200 more for screen coverage. And most salespeople just want the commission checks so they tell the customer the $150 plan covers the screen when it doesnt. And they push the warranty plans on all employees to sell and if you dont sell so many a month office depot will fire you.

As I said I quit six months ago because of all the shady work habits.

thanks man, I know it is not a great deal, but It would be good for somebody who wants Tech support and Vista, and no hassle of building your own.

The real question is what motherboard does it use and does it have 4 ram slots, and a PCI-E x16 slot ???

There are only 2 DDR2 ram slots, expandable to 2gb only.

There is 1 PCI-E x8 slot. Laaaaame.

I guess it's not bad if you want a new computer but I would've rather gotten that Acer on woot with the Athlon 64 3800. It was a refurb tho. Just my 2 cents.

Seems like a good option to point grandma/grandpa to. Clearly not meant for power users (but what super cheap PCs are?)

it comes with 1 x 1gb stick according to the spec on Emachine site, which is good so dont have 2 x 512mb sitting around useless if you purchase 2 x 1gb to upgrade the ram.

you can just buy a 1gb stick for like $10.00 After rebate install it and be done with it.
