Can anyone remember any Election aftermath of people fleeing Country & killing themselves???

11-7-2004 Man Shoots, Kills Himself at Ground Zero

NEW YORK - A 25-year-old from Georgia who was apparently distraught over President Bush's re-election shot and killed himself at ground zero.

Andrew Veal's body was found Saturday morning inside the off-limits site, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. A shotgun was found nearby, but no suicide note was found, Coleman said.

Newsday, citing a police source it did not identify, reported Sunday that Veal opposed the war in Iraq and was apparently distraught after the election.

Friends said Veal worked in a computer lab at the University of Georgia and was planning to marry.

"I'm absolutely sure it's a protest," Mary Anne Mauney, Veal's supervisor at the lab, told The Daily News. "I don't know what made him commit suicide, but where he did it was symbolic."

The other thread on this was Locked

You really think you can manage this one any better, given the sketchy information surrounding the suicide?

I didn't see that thread. What is there to manage???

As long as there's no THREAD CRAPPING it should do fine.

Dave, you had a fine start, to the thread too, no political agenda & no value judgments.

 for Dave & not attempting to spin the thread...

And :( for the loss of any life.

As a completely serious comment, if we're not allowed to discuss the politically motivated aspect of this suicide (supposedly), then why was it posted in P&N at all?

Maybe another more generic thread would be more appropriate...

right on. the loved ones will do the suffering. he took the easy way out with no pain.
and for one in over 100,000,000 people to do something like this noway makes a big story. but
dmcowen and his likes will try. he is one of the reasons his party is in the shape it is.

This thread is actually a repost as the last one got excessively ugly

The sympathy stems from the fact that we're connected to him by being humans, Americans, and that we sat through a hard-fought campaign and election process. Some of us felt emotions similar to those he felt (though I should hope not nearly as extreme) so it's easier to feel his pain.

In any case,

How does one know that since there was no suicide note was found, Who knows what sets them off, Most the times people like this go on a killing spree so thank God he killed himself before he did anything else
