Hi all

Staples has the Sharp UX-355 for $99.98
Add something (Rubberbands are cool)
Use a $25 off $100 thingy
$40 Staples MIR (until 12-24-00)
$10 Sharp MIR (until 12-31-00)

Comes to $25 plus tax shipped to your door.

I have the lower end Sharp and love it.

Sorry, I had the rebates backwards. It's now correct above.
The Staples CRS said the Sharp MIR would be in the box.

The $10 rebate I found on the Sharp site and from a previous thread on this shows to be on the UX-355L model and not the UX-355. Is there a $10 rebate in addition to the $40 one on the UX-355?

Thanks,
Mike

Both rebates are available on staples.com, and are clearly stated in the ad. Worst case, if they give you too much grief, you can always take it to a store.

One other question - whcih one gets the original UPC? I sent an e-mail to rebate CS, so I have instructions in writing - same reason.

Do not use rubber bands! They all must have a sign in front of them with a rubber band warning! I had a CS rep right to the end of an order and when I gave him the SKU for the Rubber bands he backed out with a poor excuse of "no inventory", out of nowhere! Watch the rubber bands.... use somthing else..

Where?

Couldn't find anything about the 25 off 100$ anywhere on their website?
Do I need new contacts?

I read somewhere that you can stack the codes at Staples if you call your order in, TOTALLY LEGIT. So if you find (not hard to do) things at Staples that are free after rebate, you can use two $25 for $75 off by getting the price up to $150 and get the printer free.

The downside to the fax is the cost of the ribbons, which are usually sold for $28 for about 200 pages. However, Costco sells four of them for $28, making them $7 for 200 pages, making it a great deal at 3.5 cents a page.

they allowed stacking until about 2 weeks ago when everyone started doing it all of a sudden...

thats how things are when they are "released" to the boards..a hot deal that may have existed for a while gets popular through the boards, circulates to ALL the major boards, and companies instantly see whats going on...thus no hot deal lasts long...

Good price but like the free razor but requires expensive blades ( imaging ribbons) sure are pricey. I can't seem to find any alternative/generic brands.

Data Products makes generic ink rolls that are quite a bit cheaper than the OEM. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they made them for the machine manufacturers. You can find them at Staples (limited selection online, complete at their B & M) and Micro Center.

For those who have a question about the double rebate submission - e-mail response from their rebate CS:

Dear XXXX:

Thank you for visiting web site. We realize we are offering a rebate for the same product and both are requesting an original UPC and receipt. Please submit the original UPC barcode and receipt to one rebate and submit a copy of the UPC barcode and receipt to Staples in separate envelopes. We apologize for the confusion.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. rebates@parago.com

Thank you,
Kiran

858diver,

on the staples rebate it states "Offer not valid with any other rebates, offers or promotions", so you can't use the 25 off coupon in combo with the 30 mail in rebate ? Am i correct on this or has anyone used both and still gotten the rebate ? Easpecially since the rebate comes from staples and not sharp...

any tips appreciated

This is a nice fax machine, but a word of warning. The machine uses old transfer paper technology and will need a transfer paper sheet for each incoming page. These things are pretty pricey, around 20-25 cents a piece! :Q

If you plan on receiving a ton of incoming messages, spend the extra dollars for a better machine that uses newer printing technology. This will save you quite a bit of money in the long run

Happy faxing! :)

I haven't used mine to receive yet (I use faxwave from callwave.com, great service) but I see nothing in the instructions that refer to a "transfer sheet".

I think what he means is the method of printing it uses is heat transfer or thermal printing. Costs about $25 for a 2-pack of ribbons which will print a total of 200 sheets. $25/200 = 12 and a half cents a page.

I've got the 355L and it doesn't need transfer paper. Nice fax, but it was one of the things that died during a lightning strike to the telephone pole behind my house. Glad I got 2;)

TigerNY: Coupons are fine in combo w/rebates, marriage made in skinflint techie-land.
Also, aren't both plain paper copiers, plain and simple? I know that at least 1 plainly states that.

My mother bought this unit (without the coupon code) and the first one she got was DOA. It would not dial. As in you can even pick up the handset, get a dial tone, then you start pressing buttons and nothing happens. She got a replacement that works fine.
