I just ordered the retail version from newegg. I think I got the last one in the warehouse lol right after mine was shipped they removed the retail drive completely from their site (usually they just put up a button that says it will notify you when they are restocked).

FRYS has the 20X10X40 CenDyne version in todays paper for $ 79.99. Is CenDyne and Lite-On the same thing? Anyway, I just ordered one from Newegg. I think the other place is out of them because there is no buy button when you try to order. It also doesn't come with the software and cables, that is $5 extra. Neweggs comes with everything.

Yo...for $10 more, Fry's has the Que 24x10x40, which uses same Burn-Proof as the TDK VeloCD 24x10x40.

I wish Fry's/Outpost would lower their online price on that Que from $119

I have this drive as a rebadged I/O Magic Drive. It burns at 24 with my 16 media. It's pretty good.

No, they are not the same companies, but in fact the Lite-On 24x10x40 drive just happens to be the OEM source for the Cendyne 24x10x40. This doesn't mean that every Cendyne is a Lite-On, Cendyne has used other sources for their drives in the past IIRC. Sure-fire proof can be found on the Cendyne box - if it says the drive uses SMART-BURN technology, then you're golden and there's a Lite-On inside.

get the lite on, but not a bad price. I had some of my friends pick these up for their computers since they didn't want to shed out the $$$ for the plextor's. They bought theirs for 72.00 + s/h from somewhere. They got 5 blank cdrs, 1 cdrw, and nero burning software. Was a good deal. I'll see if I can find the site they bought it from for anyone interested. But all in all this is pretty much the same, which is a good deal

Not to crap or anything, but I've been looking into this drive for sometime now. Been waiting for it to drop and keep it up till the 32x comes out. Well it seems like it's about time to get it. I just checked newegg and it's $80.00 plus $5.00 shipping = $85 shipped.

This site is $71.00 + $12.50 shipping = $83.50.

But the newegg comes with all software, thus a $5 value - making it a little more enticing for me. Newegg here I come. Good price never-the-less. Again, I meant no harm - good deal!

I'm with elfnumber1, shipping/handling kills this "deal" for me. Being on the East coast can raise s/h prices to the point of killing a deal that seems great on the West coast. I'm getting mine from NewEgg, cheaper overall price, total is $87 for the full retail with software drive.

i actually bought one of these babies from nexthardware shop about two weeks ago for 86 shipped, retail version b/c its for my aunts computer and she wanted a box (dont ask me why). they ship and deliver fast, my order went flawless and would highly reccomend them, fast shipping.

Easy going:
Lite-on doesn't make a 20X burner. It's most likely an AOpen with Just Link as a buffer under run. I have the 24X AOpen and Just-Link works fine. The only other companies to make 20X burners are Yamaha and Acer (I think).
