Is there a way to be able to test the current media I have and see if I could burn at a faster rate instead of 4x? Like an overburn test/overclocking test it would run faster and faster until it started to create errors and then stop at that speed. Then it would give me a readout like 5.5X for example.

I got some 4X Media and I just feel like burning it at a faster speed. I also have a set of 10X media and I want to do the same thing (which equates to me being a cheap bastard).

From my experience, CD-RW media is very unlikely to burn at higher than rated speeds, unlike regular CD-R media.

So you're most likely SOL.
