I'm curious, what can my video card handle?

X1900XTX with 2gb of ram, will it handle a 24" fine? Will I have any problems with certain resolutions? I'm using a Dell2001FP now, and I've heard the color is better on this than the 2407..

Also, I probably won't get mine until Christmas, or after it...so should I just wait for something better?

On her end, she's using a

9800 pro / 1gb ram...

What is the max she can use?

1920 × 1200 for definite (max for single link DVI I believe).
Dunno if the 9800 has dual link DVI

both cards shold be able to handle a 2407WFP for desktop purposes. 1920*1200 is the maximum possible resolution for single link DVI, so the 9800 should be ok.

but for gaming, you may have trouble with cutting edge games (even with an x1900XTX). you will definitely be able to play everything at that resolution, but probably not with lots of AA and AF. You really need a dual-GPU solution for gaming at 1920*1200 WITH AA and AF.

1920x1200 is fine for most games on the X1900XT even with AA and AF there def are a few you will have to tone down the AA though. The 9800 will not be able to play games well at all at 1920x1200. Luckily the 2407 scales to other resolutions pretty well.

She says she's fine with a 20"

As for which to get, I've loved Dell so far, so 2007FPW sound good? For gaming...

Also, where's the est place to purchase it? Probably just gonna go with dells site :p

Yeah I think Dell only sell their monitors through dell.com and maybe some kiosks in malls.

2007WFP is pretty good for gaming.

You can get new Dell monitors at Costco and Tiger Direct carry their refurbs. The best deals though, involve using coupon codes at the Dell web site. Sign up for all their maling lists so you'll get your own coupon codes.
