I've been having an interesting time assembling my A7N8X based compter today..
Parts:
A7N8X Delux 1001.G bios
XP 2400+
256MB x2 Corsair PC3200 XMS
Volcano 9
PCI Raid Card
WD 120 x2
Audigy
430 Antec TruePower
Prior to installing, I unlocked the processor using the wire trick around the bottom of the chip.
I first put the RAM, proc, and the Videocard on the motherboard and tried to boot it out of the box. No POST. No dice. But it was all good -- this was expected, and I reset the CMOS and booted again, POSTed, set up the bios and BAM! I was able to get it going at a nice 10.5 * 200 synched @ 5 2 2 2. The temp was only 40, I could read all the fan speeds, No problems.
Happily, I assembled the rest of the computer, eagerly awating benchmarking. However, when I booted it up again, I got the dreaded "Warning!! CPU is overclock!" error. 3 Hours later, here I am, trying to get it even up to stock speeds. It seems that it will now only go at either 864, or 933 or 1162 no matter what settings I'm using.
Did I jostle the processor while installing the rest of the stuff? Do I need to up the voltage? (I tried, it didn't help) Why would it work then and not now? Any ideas how I can get back to original?
