Just got it, just popped it in.
Now that's more like it!
It's one of the smaller die Tbred chips - it runs pretty cool at default speed.
Right now, running seti of course, case temp is 34C & cpu temp is 37C. That's nice!! That's the same temp the 1600+ was running underclocked at 1133mhz.
Me Likes!! :D:D:D

*Overclock it, overclock it!* is what the voice of the crowd yells out.

yeah, not going to be taking any chances with this cpu - that's the most I've spent on a processor in a long time.

In fact I have to sell some stuff to offset this real fast.

The first thing I do when i get a new CPU is disconnect all devices in my computer and see how high i can get it to post.

why not try and O/C at least a few hundred MHz? all you have to lose is a bit of stability, you can gain some good WU times! :D

Well, the mobo can be modded so it will take fsb adjustments. It takes cutting a soldered jumper and attaching the center post to the 'other side' I am thinking maybe I can do this with the "conductive goo" that came with the OC kit for overclocking AMD cpu's. That would be a lot safer than soldering to the motherboard IMHO.

You have to mod the mbrd just get extra FSB!?:disgust::confused: ,in that case I understand your hesitance!
Conductive paint sounds like a good idea:) ,be carefull cutting that link though!

Thats what the crowd at the AMD reality check in seattle were chanting during the battle of the boxes! :)

I'm happy to report that I walked away with a shiny new Athlon XP 2400+ :)

Very nice, I was registered but due to a friend in the hospital I ended up not attending.
That 2400+ is a nice cpu ;)

So far with 12 units done they range from 2:47 up to 3:11
Some of those were being done while the system was in use, watching TV on the Leadtek Winfast Deluxe tuner or watching a DVD or burning some roms etc...
All in all I gotta say it makes a nice system. Running under 40C all the time doing seti 24/7.
It's the smaller Tbred core, so it stays cooler if you run default speed & voltage. I could probably put in a quiter HSF & disconnect the case fan, it would be nice to run a quiet PC for a change ;)
