2400+ heat output

How much heat does a 2400+ XP put out? How much is it compared to say a 1.2ghz Athlon? I went to AMD's website to look up exact numbers to compare, but I couldn't find anything at all helpfull on the matter. Mostly, I want to know if I can get a 2400+ OEM for 20 bucks cheaper that doesn't come with a new heatsink, and just use my "old" Mini SuperOrb. Thanks a lot guys.

Orb = bad idea IMHO. It had a crummy repuation to start with, and with the smaller contact area of the Thoroughbred cores, it will be even less suitable and more likely to break your CPU. :Q Thermalright SK-7 is a good all-around unit that takes 80mm fans, if you want a suggestion. Its copper base is effective at spreading the heat away from the small Tbred core.

Getting a SK-7 isn't an option, niether is getting anything above the price of 20 bucks, or anything louder than what I have. If my orb won't cool it well enough, I've played with it long enough to trust it NOT breaking my CPU, I'll just pay the extra cash and get the stock fan that comes with the 2400+.

As long as you don't plan to OC it the stock fan is adequate. The orb doesn't provide with adequate cooling for the 2400+.

Good luck

Matt
