Finaly got my FW900 from Ebay ,The box was packed extremely well with a thick barrier of bubble wrap all around it. The front part of the monitor casing has a little scratch but the glass/screen itself is in perfect condition.

Picture quality on this thing is AWESOME I was very pleased to find the Geometry and Convergence in near perfect condition after looking at various test patterns. Also the overall Focus is excellent corner to corner. It seems as if this monitor wasnt used very much or it just aged very well, I cant see any notable flaws in the picture quality, I was just playing FarCry @ 1900x1200 and it looked amazing,Also played some 1080i clips with the monitor set at the proper 1920x1080 res (No black bars) and it looked superb with pitch black levels, I think I got an excellent deal @ $400 shipped, especially considering this monitor retailed for $2,300 new.

Took this pic although my digital camera doesnt really do it justice.

Large thread on this monitor still going @ HardOCP

Fvcking scratch on my monitor is going to make me broke at this rate.

What's the difference between the HP OEM and the Original Sony? Just case appearance?

(I didn't want to look at the pages too long)

EDIT: yeah, specs look the same exactly...

Man... why shouldn't I get this?

92 pounds though... well... certainly a lot lighter than the 36" wega was.

Yes it is a beast of a monitor ,it took 2 of us to get it to its final resting place on my desk ,The delivery guy knocked on my door and asked me to help him get it out of his truck , We took it through the back gate and the box wouldnt fit through my back door lol ..Had to take it out of the box outside ,but this was due to the seller packing it very well with extra bubble wrap , he used a rather large box..I was alittle concerned about the monitor traveling 3,200 miles via ground service so im glad he used the extra packing.

pic of the box , double boxed it! heh.

pic of it when first opening the box.

Nice, I've always wanted one of those to play with. :)

Can't really afford it now though, and the fact that I live on the 4th floor of a dorm will keep me from it anyway for quite a while ;)

Of couse it looked good as that is one pimp monitor you got there, but it would look even better if you didn't stretch the video out makeing everything tall and skinny. ;)

Does this come in black?

EDIT: or silver works too.

Is the Sony one silver colored or a beige?

Decisions decisions....

lol, I have the "tiny" NEC one. :D Can't beat the superbright mode and refresh rates though.

I doubt it, professional level monitors tend to have white cases.

The newer NEC/Mitsu ones are actually black for the most part.

Yeah, I figured that... but those pics of the Sony had me hoping.

I guess I could stain it if I really wanted to. This wouldn't be the first monitor I changed from standard to black/silver ;)

Yeah, mine is fine really... except for the three inch gash in it that I have no recollection of making.

I tried to take a picture of it a couple days ago but I just can't seem to get it to show up at all in pictures.... really irritating though. When I move my head from side to side "rainbows" move up and down the scratch as the different colored phosphors line up with it. I like my rainbow effect where it belongs, on my projector :p

I've been considering getting a 22" NEC for quite a while now... even before this monitor got scratched. Not really the professional level that this one is designed for, but perfectly good for my uses (AT)

Oh god... This thing has component inputs?! http://zenblue.net/ded/FW900wrap.jpg
I can plug my Xbox's component inputs into it directly?! Awesome!!
For those wondering, I already have a Infocu X1 projector.

And while there is no comparison size, (I've gotton up to 150") it's limited by resolution (800x600) and needs a dark room. So I really just wanted a better monitor for normal everyday use. (I'm using a 17" NEC right now) This just thrills me. I'm getting my Sony 900 tomorrow!! I just hope it doesn't break my back getting it in... >_<

I'm not sure... but I think that might be for 5x BNC connections.

I have never used those before though so I don't know much about them.
Component straight in might work... but if I had to take a guess I'd think it wouldn't work.

Hmmm... Interesting... However RGB has offtend refered to the red, greend and blue plugs for a component cable. I can just imagine playing some of my Xbox titles in 720p. ....Or 360 titles.

I imagine VD and HD are verticle and horizonal signals that it needs.

Man I want one of these now.

After playing a little Counter Strike: Source in 16:10 with my new 2005FPW I would love this thing. I would just have to buy a new computer desk since I don't think my current one could handle the 100 lbs.
