Basically, they are finding ways for the characters to fck up because they ran out of ideas. Why did Jack try to walk out of the room instead of calling CTU? Why did the Russian agent walk out of the room so he could get shot? Doesn't make any sense.

Post this in one of the numerous threads discussing this topic.

I agree, I asked myself the same thing during both of those scenes.. why did the CTU agents let graem's father be alone with him? Getting really bad.

1. He was about to as the door blew up.
2. He was checking if anyone was around to listen to the call.

Yeah, don't you think they should've BOTH made calls in the room before trying to exit? So if Jack called CTU first, the stupid Russian agent wouldn't get capped. If the Russian agent called CTU in the room, maybe he would've gotten further.

Is the show unrealistic to a point where its ridiculous? Yea.

It almost makes it unwatchable really. I can suspend disbelief a little (ie, Jack shoots 3-4 bad guys with his pistol, and headshots all of them), but I can't really take it when heros do stupid things just for the plot.

Yeah I didn't like the Russian guard finding a room to make a call. He was gonna do it for Jack, so why not stay in the room to get the number from Jack again, be safer to talk and no one would hear, and let Jack speak on the phone if need be.

Most things I can let slide. It's just entertainment. Some things are pretty dumb though.

yeah, or how about the basic premise where this one guy is going crazy and does all this stuff within 24hrs...the basic plot if unfathomable.

24 jumped the shark right around episode 5.

if by ep 5, season 1, where they stopped saying "these events occur in real time," then i agree. that's the only reason why I watched the show.

How many times do we have to have a post by someone on ATOT who thinks that the particular episode they watched is the first one where any number of blatant stupidities occur? We had one, what, a week ago? Let me clue you in... the show has always been stupid, full of plot holes, ripe with idiotic jargon, poorly planned, and repetitive. Literally every season you can barely keep up with all the stupid crap that characters do, things that make no sense, number of potential moles or presidential assassins, dangerous weapons of mass destruction, people tortured, embarrassingly stupid things jack does, etc. It's been that way since episode 1 of the series and hasn't changed.

So please, let's just quit with the "24 has become so stupid!" because it has always been stupid, but it took you several seasons to notice for some reason. What we need is a support thread for people who took several years to realize how obviously stupid a show is that the rest of us noticed back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

That said, I still like the show.

I find it hard to believe that you all have run out of material to fap to in a Victoria's Secret catalogue between the hours of 9-10pm on Monday nights such that you feel obligated to watch 24 and then piss and moan about how awful it is on ATOT.
