It looks like somehow the US negotiated for Jack's release which is kinda weak IMHO. I was hoping there would be some kind of black ops mission to break him out.

Sorry, I'm not gonna watch season six because I just know Jack is not going to die. That, and season five and its stupid, contrived drama drove me crazy.
Maybe I'll check it out on DVD if I learn that Jack actually *does* die this season.

Keep in mind that to fly from China back to the US would take what, 10 hours? Imagine how fun it'd be watching Jack Bauer on an airplane for 10 hours! Great idea!![]()

I had thought about that, I think they're going to have to address it in some other way because no way can they bring Jack in halfway through the season.
Thanks for proving my point. The whole entire trailer is all about Jack having to give up his life in order to save the country. Thanks to purbeast0's post, I now remember that Mr. Sutherland has at least three more years left in him as Jack Bauer. So, in other words, we all know that Jack is *not* going to die when the trailer tells us otherwise. So, where's the drama in that? THERE IS NONE!! Why watch it if you already know the outcome or if they're just making it up as they go along?Originally posted by: RagingBITCH

Good, one less idiot posting in our 24 threads. Has there ever been a season where Jack will die? Doubtful. You're in the minority pal.

My bets are on they already negotiated for Jack's return before the season and E1/E2 is where Jack finally arrives. That's the only logical explanation IMO.
But no it would be cool to do the black ops. Just unless they plan on killing a bunch of Chinese people in China, the show would have a totally new take.

Yep, the writers are pulling crap out of their asses and putting it on the show. What was the point of having the Chinese kidnap Jack at the end of season 5 if he's going to be released immediately at the beginning of the next season?! Granted, I don't *know* if he's released during the actual first episode, but it still looks like no effort went into getting him back.Originally posted by: mcvickj

Your not the only one. I'm kind of bummed about that myself.

What about season 1? I was blown away when Teri died at the very end - now THAT was unpredictable. It's too bad Stephen Hopkins - the original exec. producer - left the show just after it was getting good; it's gone downhill since.Originally posted by: RagingBITCH
Um, then why watch any TV show? You know it's going to have a happy ending. Or the case is going to be solved. Or someone wins the prize at the end of the game show and is crowned champion. You act like everything else in life is so unpredictable. Well duh, Jack's going to live. Get over it.

At least the deaths in a show like Lost don't seem contrived...
(Un)fortunately, I have no argument there.Originally posted by: RagingBITCH
No one is going to watch 24 (except for maybe you) if Kiefer Sutherland's character dies. He *makes* the show, period.

The fact that the terror attacks take place on the same day as his arrival would be too much of a coincidence although it wouldn't be the first time the writers stretched the limits of credibility.
What would *really* kick ass is if they had Chuck Norris and the Delta Force bust Jack out.
