24 pin PSU vs 20 pin

Ok, I currently have the Asus A8N Sli board and my PSU has only the 20 pin connector whereas the board has a 24 pin power connector, what is the benefit if any of using a PSU with 24 pin connector?

Just hook the cable where pin 1 meets socket one. It should work fine. Read your manual. It will tell you all you can f*** up that ASUS does not want to be liable for.

Currently I have the 20 pin running the board, it is plugged in using the top pins (when the board is in the case). Will this cause damage?

From what I've been told by my computer tech friend, if you buy a 20pin to 24pin connector, you should be fine. Tt makes one, as do a growing number of companys.

Hope that helps.
