I bought a 24 pin power supply and i realized i only have a 20 pin mobo. Its a asrock mobo and I was wondering if i could still use the powersupply. It is a corsair 520w powersupply.

I looked for adapters and all i can find is a adapter for 24pin mobos with 20 pin power supply, not the other way around. Help would be appreciated.

Look closely at the end of the connector. Does it look like you can detach a small section at the end? A lot of power supplies now are 20+4 pins which means you can detach 4 pins.

EDIT: I just checked it. If it's model number CMPSU-520HX, then it's 20+4. You should be able to snap off the extra 4 pins.

The corsair PSUs have that extra 4 pins able to unclip for the older 20 pin mobos. It just pulls apart. You can clip it back on later when you get a 24pin mobo.
