24-pin -> 20-pin atx connector issue

hi there

I recently bought new fortron 460W PSU, only to find out it has only the 24-pin atx connector. I don't have intel server board, got abit IS7 which has only 20-pin connector on the board.
I know there are adapters for these cases, but the thing is buying one online is not possible for me and it seems noone here sells it. I asked the guy from the shop where i bought the PSU if it's possible to plug it in anyways and he said i could plug it into the 20-pin connector on board just fine.
well if anyone can confirm that, then in what way should it be connected (starting on left or on right?) or has that guy been smoking some weed lately?

thanks
