I was in Advance Auto Parts today and saw 24 packs of "Endurance" brand AA and AAA Alkaline batteries for $4.88. They also had C and D size, but you obviously got less of them for the same price. The packaging looks similar to a pack of Rayovacs I bought once, but I don't know if that means anything. Best if used by date is Dec. 2012 on the pack I bought. Not bad for an impulse buy IMHO.

If you have a BJs membership, they have decent batteries. AA's are ~$10 for a 48 pack, good quality. They have AAA but i never bought them there.

A friendly warning about Advance Auto Parts batteries DONT BUY THEM!!! I put 2 in a hard-to-find Maglight 2-C cell flashlight, and less than two weeks later the flashlight wouldn't work. I thook the end off and they had leaked, swollen up,and almost eaten through the aluminum case. I had to use a drill, large eyebolt and a vise to get the batteries out. I washed the flashlight with Go-Jo, soap and water, baking soda and then water trying to save the $22 dollar flashlight. Probably a lost cause, over a STUPID bargain battery. I'm going in the morning to ask Advance what they are going to do about it, but I know without a doubt they won't stand behind them.
