Yes it is new. A-MVA is an evolution of P-MVA. Let's see how the reviews of the 2407-HC pan out. AU Optronics is a worthy panel maker. As just one example, the well-rated LG 245/246 24-inch monitor also uses an AU Optronics panel.

As a further indication that the 2407-HC uses an AU Optronics panel, it is interesting to note that HiColor (hence HC) is AUO's own branding of wide color gamut. See here and here.

what a bunch of marketing ploy.. Manufacturer X makes new panel and it declares it as a new technology. Marketing is running rampant.

I looked 24" Samsung at best buy last night, so in product description it states (fake) 3000:1 contrast ratio... not a single word saying "This is a TN panel, that is why it is cheap"

This is why I didn't buy a 24" LCD none of them have a IPS panel 🙁 You must go 30" and thats just way to big. 20" is big enough. Any bigger and you really start to have to move your head a lot.

Will I bought the 2047WFP no the HC. The HC came out about 2 days after I ordered. Not a big deal as I dont watch movies or play with photoshop much.

The only thing that is annoying is Dell isnt shipping the thing until July 11th (delivery 16th to 18th) and I ordered on June 29th. WTF is that!! It is a monitor in a box in a freakin warehouse not a computer.

AMVA is the long-awaited equiv. to Samsung's S-PVA (as P-MVA was to Samsung's PVA). It might be slightly better. I've always liked the MVA techs better since they are faster.

i had looked at that one too but it was 100.00 more. looked like a really nice monitor though

Sort of OT, but I'd like to ask anyway. For any of you current 24" WS LCD users - did any of you come from a 20" 4:3 aspect monitor? I have the Dell 20" now and I'm wondering if the 24" would be a substantial size improvement, or if you really need to step up to the 27 or 30" screens?

Thanks!
Aaron

I went from a 19" (4:3) to the 24 inch WS and there is a huge difference probably 1/3 more screen size or so. It is roughly the same height as the 19" but wider. Get 4 pieces of 8x11 paper and put them so they are 22x16 (LxH). This about how big a 24" monitor is.

Jeez the BenQ monitor went up almost 80 bucks since last time I have checked. What's with the prices? Shouldn't they be going down? The refurbished deal is nice at benqshopper, unless the monitor goes out after 90 days. Then you just shot yourself in the foot and have a $500 eyesore in the corner. I was looking at getting one too, meh oh well.

The Dell monitor is probably the best you can get for awhile.

The 2407-HC has an annoying green halo around rapidly moving text. You can cut it way back with monitor settings, but you can't completely get rid of it.

what do you mean rapidly moving text? got an example?

I never thought I'd say this, but I'd definitely recommend the 24-inch Soyo--currently going for $400 from Office Max.

Before you dismiss my recommendation out of hand, consider that I'm coming from the 20-inch S-IPS NEC, one of the most highly recommended monitors out there for gaming (see the LCD thread). I loved my NEC, but I wanted something bigger. Believe me when I say I was very surprised to find the Soyo an acceptable replacement for the NEC, if only because the Soyo offers so much more real estate. The one place it really suffers is black level--it can't compare to the NEC there at all. But other than that, for color and clarity, it's great.

EDIT: Now back on sale for $300--an awesome deal.
