24" monitor prices dropping trend?

There seems to be at least a nice price drop on 24" monitor each week (over at the Hot Deals forum). I have been tempted to buy one a few times now; but there seems to be a trend that has begun, and I was wondering if anyone knows why that is so? Should I hold off and wait around x-mas as the prices continue to drop on better monitors?

Or in the case of LCDs, bigger/crappier (TNs)/cheaper.

Okay, the good panels are coming down too, but crap panels is what's pushing the cheap pricing...i just hope they don't completely take over.
 
Do you all think the NEC LCD 24" , 26", 30" (do they even make a 30" yet?) will come down in price anytime soon ? If not are the Dell and HP ones just as good if not at least close?
