I'm looking for a decent 24" monitor for gaming on my 360 (will go as high as £250 if its 'really' good).

I'm not going to bother with the more expensive TN 120Hz panels because 360 games run at 60fps, and you can only really (apparently) get the benefit out of these displays if you are running pc games at >60fps - which I am obviously not.

Therefore, I am thinking about either going for a TN panel that has (very marginally) better response times (maybe something like an Acer H243HX), but has worse colours, contrast and viewing angle etc than an IPS or VA panel.

OR

going for something like an IPS U2311H (and buying a DVI-HDMI adapter), or maybe a VA BenQ VW2420H which supports HDMI already. These, I assume, will have better colours, contrast and so forth, but will have very slightly worse response times so may suffer from slight ghosting (although my current HDTV has an approx response time of around 8ms and I notice no ghosting and I play Cod every day, so I think this wont 'really' be an issue). The U2311 has aprox 8ms response time, which is decent and is similar to my current TV.

Also its worth mentioning that input lag is going to be something I'm bearing in mind seeing as I will be primarily playing twitch-shooters on it (ie MW2). I personally don't experience any input lag on my HDTV, but I reckon 'in reality' there will be about 10-20ms, maybe even more, of display lag occurring, which is actually quite good for any type of panel in general (A 120Hz TN panel, like the Samsung SM2233RZ, will have about 15ms of input lag). What I am trying to say is that if I go down IPS route, I don't want to experience any kind of display lag that is worse from what I currently use (not that HDTV's are renowned for having low input lag, but slightly older models have better display lag because the more recent TV's use more complicated image processing which can in fact make display lag a serious issue - just youtube input lag hdtv).

Anyway, in all honesty, I dont think this is going to be a major issue, especially if IPS panels like the U2311 have input lag of about 10ms which is very very good (by the way, input lag is not displayed on manufacturers spec sheets, you have to go to places like tftcentral to get this information and its not to be confused with the response time). My only concern is that if I use a HDMI-DVI adapter with the U2311, will that in some way cause any more display 'lag'? Does anyone use it currently with a 360? I would also be intersted to know what monitors guys are using for the 360 in general? Also, if I didnt go with this display, what about this VA monitor (not IPS but still better than TN right?), something like the BenQ VW2420?

At the £200-250 price range, there is a lot of choice and Im still unsure which route to go down (TN or IPS) when I specifically have gaming on the 360 in mind? I think what I am after is a monitor that is 1080p, 23/4", have a good response time (nothing above 8ms) and very very low input lag (to the point where its not noticeable), and within that price bracket ha ha. I am dying to try these new IPS monitors but something tells me theyre are better options for gaming. I'm not trying to be a picky sod if that's the way it seems but I just want to get this right. I have a feeling that I will never really know unless I have first hand experience playing cod on them.

Any thoughts and suggestions are welcomed of course...

Does Dell ship to the UK? The Dell ultrasharp 24" is a good all around monitor. I'd put it up against any of those "fast" panels anyday. I have bought two and they both handle everything I do. I've used it at various times for my 360/PS3.

Yes im from UK, can buy from Amazon and Dell. Most panels that are out in the US are also out in the UK so its really no problem - its just picking the right monitor :). I was thinking about the U2311, does anyone use this for gaming on the 360?

Most xbox games run at 720p natively and are upscaled to 1080p if you run it on a display that can handle that resolution. Some games run at a constant 60fps though, ie Cod MW2. Anyway, that still doesnt help me pick a monitor...
