24" LCD with HDMI and DVI at the least, and true 72hz support!

Hey folks,

The LCD thread is awesome, but there isn't much discussion of 72 Hz modes.

I need to get an LCD that can really do 72Hz, because there's always tearing when I play 24p video on a 60 Hz display. Vista's EVR can help this, as can using the Haali renderer in Media Player Classic, but I would prefer to just run at 72 (24x3) and be done with it.

Are there any LCDs that can actually do 72Hz "for real"? Some can take a 72Hz signal, but they still only display 60Hz. What's the score?

I was set on the BenQ G2400W, but it doesn't do 72.

I need DVI and HDMI, for a media device and a PC connected at the same time. Cost isn't really a factor.

Thanks!

I am fairly sure there is no support for 72Hz on LCD's.

Have you actually tried using a good LCD when using a 24fps video? I have not noticed any problems with a HD-DVD @ 23.9 fps on NEC 20WMGX2 (60hz) and Sharp Aquos LC52D62U (60hz i believe).

Refresh rates really dont apply to LCD's the way your using them. You want to find a good panel with a low response time (sub 18ms, preferably sub 10ish). At about 25ms you notice ghosting, it gets better from there down.

I'm not talking about ghosting, I'm talking about tearing.

And yes, it's not as bad as a CRT at 60Hz - but it's still not perfect. 1080p24 LCD TVs exist - and are distinct from "regular" 1080p TVs. I would imagine this means their panels can display a refresh rate that is an even multiple of 24 (okay 23.976) - but maybe I'm mistaken.

Thanks for the input guys...
