24 inch IDE Cables... Any problems?

ATA100 specs call for an 18 inch cable... Anyone that has a 24 inch cable, is there any noticable difference between the 18 inch and 24 inch?

Eh.... if there are problems they'll be minimal.

They say it does ... same they say a 25 foot phone cord has more line interference between the phone jack and a dial up modem ... because the data has to travel further distances

So, ya know I can't say that I've tryed it myself, but anything is possible.

but ... I tell you I have a 36" IDE cable connecting my CD-ROM and CD-RW drives to my motherboard because my server tower is so tall and I haven't noticed any reduction in drive performance or transfer rates.

i'm sure it should be fine. i think the reason that the standard does not allow for long cables is because of the resistance. the longer the cable the higher the resistance and you'll have a greater chance of loss with inefficient wires.

I got these 36 inch cables too, no problem what so ever! but there is so many connector on them total of 5 ,atleast on mine.

I've got a 24 incher and everything seems to be OK. Of course, I won't be able to tell the difference since I have a full tower and the only cable that will suit my need are 24"'s.😎

I've got 24 and 18 in my system and no problems. One word of caution make sure the plastic is very soft and pliable. I've noticed some people talking about the problems they had with the rounded cables because they wouldn't bend. The ones I got are just fine.
