I don¡¦t get why my burning speed is so slow. The DVD-R drive was cheap so I picked it up, but the burn speeds are not bearable. Burned CD-R¡¦s at 40x without problems. The first DVD I burned using DVD Shrink and the burn process took 24hrs. I have up to date firmware (v.54) A few programs are open, nothing taking high resources though. DVD+R media is HP 2.4x which is crappy CTC media, but I still expect less than 1 hr burn times.

Any ideas?

Have you tried to burn a data DVD instead of a movie? I've heard of people having similar experiences with some DVD's (for the record, my 2600+ can read/analyze/burn a DVD in about an hour).

Haven't had the chance to burn a data DVD yet. I was recommended to scan my drive speeds with Nero and upgrade the chipset drivers if the results from the speed test are slow. The DVD I tried burning this morning is still burning so I have to wait for it to finish before I upgrade chipset drivers.
