this reminds me of the south park where they get stranded, and within 15 minutes they're eating other people to stay alive. seriously, not eating for 24 hours isn't that hard.
 
It sure would be much more action packed if 30 minutes of an episode entailed the ordering/cooking and eating of food.

Jack takes a bite.

Michelle takes a bite.

Cloe complains that hers isn't done.

Jack takes a drink of water.

Tony gets pissed that Michelle is sharing her food with someone else.

Edgar eats throughout the entire episode.

this isn't a standard work day, this is a time of national emergency, and there are no other employees with the skills of chloe or edgar. i'm sure the lower level employees work i nshifts

I haven't watched the show, but does it really go in order? Are there 12 episodes of daylight, followed by 10 at night, followed by two more early morning daylight shows?

Also, everyone on the show stays up for 24 hours straight, right?

Jack does. In the first season he started showing signs of sleep deprivation after a while, as did a few other people. In subsequent seasons not that many people stay around the whole time; maybe 5 or 6 people. This season people have come and gone and come back again several times; Jack and Edgar are the only two people I can think of who haven't had any chance to sleep whatsoever.
