Interesting. Its time likes this I wish I was able to get DSL. doh.

Nonetheless, Broadband Reports seems to have a decent rating amongst many user reviews.

The only thing that irks is the 1 year contract. If the reviews from above are any indication to the quality of the service, then this deal is flat out flaming.

If you are an online gamer, this may not be what you want... my friend has this, and always got disconnected from the game when playing.

Offer requires a one-year term agreement. After the expiration of this term agreement, the then-current month-to month or applicable term price will apply. The regular monthly price for the service and a separate activation fee of $50.00 will appear on the first bill along with any corresponding and offsetting credits. Offer is available for a limited period of time and is subject to change without notice. Early termination fee of $200 applies if service is cancelled before expiration of term. Pricing is based on customer self-installation on an existing line. Offer includes free modem and self-installation kit, a $12.95 Shipping and Handling charge will apply to the self-installation kit. Minimum additional charge of $150 applies if subsequent technician install is required. If your line is not eligible for self-installation, or if you choose not to self-install, a $200 technician installation charge will apply for dynamic IP products.

50bucks after the first year, 13 for the kit. comes out to 35/mo for the first year.. i guess its still cheaper than 49/mo for cable..

How did you get $35 a month? Its 24.99 or 29.99 if you want the faster service

it's called installation and setup fee. Duh! First Year monthly + Installtion/Modem fee / (12month) = Monthly cost for first year.... Always check on those things. Some sleezy telco might lure you with super low monthly rate but jack up their setup/modem fees to recover.

Darn, dslextreme = not available for me. My parents need a low cost ($30 or less) DSL. Lowest here in middle TN is Bellsouth @ $50 (or $45?), and $35 for DSL Lite. :(

Do any one heart of student discount?
My friend has her DSL for $19/month (forevery) and when I test her DSL it is 1.5M download and has Static IP Address. I asked here how she get such good deal she said they have problem for student rate and she has 4 childrens all at middle to high school.

She would not tell me the exact detail but I do know she only paid $19/month and it's been for more than a year or a year already.

I totally disagree. I have DSL Extreme and they have been absolutely GREAT.
