I need someone to lead me in the right direction. I've done a lot of research on monitors and I have a 22 inch one but the colors on it are really dull and it just doesn't look sharp (700:1, 8ms, etc.).

I was looking at either Samsung 24.6 inch or a Samsung 25.5 inch.

The first monitor is great because it has a faster response time, and the contrast ratio is better I believe. The second monitor I was interested in because of it's size. Bumping up practically an inch, will I notice a difference from a 5 millisecond to a 2 millisecond response time and how vivid the pictue will be? I'm an avid gamer. I originally wanted an LG monitor with it's 50000:1 contrst ratio and 2 millisecond response time but I don't want a 27 inch. Specs are in my signature, thanks.

Both are cheap LCDs. What do you have now? Besides size there may not be much difference in Picture Quality.

Do you need a large screen? Are you using a DVI connection? Have you tried using the cleartype tuner to increase text sharpness?

If you really want a better LCD I would look into a IPS or PVA panel. PVA has better contrast ratio if you are looking for that. Don't pay attention to dynamic contrast numbers as they are pretty much BS.

Yeah but I don't know how big I want to go. My price range is around 350. I just wanted something legit for that money. Any other suggestions?

Check out the LG L227WTG. Its a great gaming monitor. I used to own one and it was pretty decent for the price.

Sitting in front of you on your desk, I seriously doubt you'd notice the difference between a 24.6 inch screen and a 25.5 inch one. But the response time you'd certainly appreciate.

It's much pricier than TN panels, but consider this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16824176104.

Onesale.com has this for around $414 with US Priority shipping or $397 with UPS Ground (though I wouldn't trust UPS with something this delicate)

Edit: Spelling.

I have a 26" LCD westinghouse and it's great, I have no problems with it at all. 8ms is really bad, my 26" has a 5ms time, I also have a Envision 22" LCD with the same.

For LCD's I usually recommend that you go into a store and check them out. You don't necessarily have to buy them there but it's always nice to see the quality before you buy it. Everyone has their own perception of lag on LCD's so I can't really say if you'll notice it or not. I have a 22" Acer LCD with 5 ms response time and I don't notice it unless I'm right up close looking for the ghosting. For LCD lag I'm pretty sure you could find a friend that has a LCD and check out how sensitive you are to it.
