Geeks has the HP 23" rotating monitor for $149.99 using the coupon code "2355". It is a refurb, but seems like a pretty hot deal if you need some big LCD real-estate.....

16ms response time. It's a terrific deal for doing lots of spreadsheet/document work, but you may notice a bit of lag when gaming. Regardless, it's refurbed so you know you won't have any (*maybe* one or two) stuck pixels, and it's about $100-150 less than other 1920x1200 monitors.

Wow... S-IPS panel for <$200. Only downer is B stock... which according to fine print can contain scratches in the screen, hairline cracks in the case, imperfectinos in the screen coating.
Kinda makes me wish I didn't buy a 2407wfp-hc recently.
Anyone care to bite?

Edit: My mistake, those things I listed are other possible grades for a refurb monitor, not potential faults with a B Grade monitor.

tempting very tempting but I can't stand dead pixels....I don't care how the case or frame look though. I usually buy monitors at B&M stores to avoid getting stuck with the annoying green stuck pixel in the middle of the screen but it is a great deal barring ridiculous circumstances that a manufacturer should have fixed for a referb.

I have an original that I paid $1.5k many years ago. It's still my main monitor and it shows no lag when gaming.

I got the 24" Soyo refurb Geek deal last year and it is a perfect monitor - I couldn't be happier.

I was very tempted to snag and post this deal, but I'm also a bit wary of the "Grade B" condition.

The B-stock thing is the EXACT reason I've avoided so many deals from Geeks. That's WAY too broad of a B-stock definition to risk any significant amount of money. I know I tend to be a bit picky about the cosmetic condition of my goods, but c'mon... 8 total defects? up to 3 dead pixels? and my personal favorite- missing control door? I doubt a monitor missing a piece of the bezel would be sold as A-grade by any reputable manufacturer (as they claim). Below is the full readout on their items for those thinking about biting...
-----------
# Disclosures:
# LCD displays may have cosmetic imperfections that appear as small bright or dark spots. This is common to all LCD displays used in products by all vendor and is not specific to any vendor or brand. Below are the acceptable amounts of "dot defects" for LCD displays that we sell:
# 20-Inch to 23-Inch:
# Total Defects: 8
# Bright or Dark Dots (random): 4
# Bright or Dark Dots (2 adjacent): 2
# Bright or Dark Dots (3 adjacent): 0
# Minimum distance between defects: 15 mm (bright to bright dots)
# Minimum distance between defects: 5 mm (dark to dark dots)

# Refurbished Monitor Grades:
# Grade B
# Monitor is in Great Condition (many vendors would sell these as "A Grade")
# Has slight Cosmetic Blemishes, examples of which are (but not limited to):
# Slight Scratches in case
# Slight Scratches in the screen
# Hairline Crack in Case
# Dead Pixel (3 or less)
# Missing Control Door
# Slight imperfections in the AGAS (Anti-Glare, Anti-Static) Coating
# Etc.

Lease returns? Would be around the right age for these to be coming back from corp. leases.

Never thought of them being lease returns... Hmmm.

Waiting to see what Chiu has to say about them...

The same resolution as 24" and 25" screens so it has a very small pixel size. Too small for me to be comfortable with.

yeah, response times seem to be a load of marketing hooey in a lot of cases. i bought one of these from geeks a couple of weeks ago for $180 shipped. i was a little worried about the 16ms rating, but it doesn't smudge text when i'm dragging a window like my "8ms" BenQ FP91G+ does.

the one i received was in good shape. there's no scratches on the case or screen and no dead/stuck pixels. mine came with the door that covers the extra video inputs and it even still has the TCO '03 and Pivot stickers on the bezel. the stand is pretty nice, but i put the monitor on an arm that was rated up to 22lbs.

however, there is a slight pink hue all the way around the outer 3/4" inch of the screen IF you're looking at a full white screen. during normal use, it's not noticeable. besides, if you're doing photo or video work (which is the real reason you'd want an IPS panel) your tool bars are most likely located along the edges of the screen anyway ;)

geeks could have done a better job packing it though. it was just packed in a big box with a few air pillows and a VGA and power cable. i'm very surprised that the cables didn't work their way in between the screen and box. luckily, the monitor only had to travel from CA to OR.

overall, i'm pretty happy with my purchase :)

I got the Geeks email and went to the their site just to see (what else), refurb. :disgust: I started searching for the model # trying to find it new and found this thread. Does anyone know of any place selling this new? This is the only monitor I've ever seen that has PiP with composite & S-video inputs like my Dell 2001FP, plus it has 1200 vertical resolution where all the rest widescreens (most 24" and certainly less) are only 1050.
Thanks.

Just ordered what seems to be the last one.

This might be a dumb question - can I hook up an HD cable receiver via component to it, and feed it 720p/1080i (or whatever the box puts out) signals? I know it isn't HDCP so no blu-ray

I just received both monitors. Both POORLY packaged. Just a piece of foam on the bottom of the box and loose air packets surrounding the monitor. Only VGA and power cables included. Cosmetically, both stands are marred and on one, many wear marks. Both panels are LM230W02. One has Display Hours: 29052 and Backlight Hours: 5234 and has 0 dead pixel (edit: just dust) . The other has Display Hours: 6663 and Backlight Hours: 4822 and has 0 dead pixel. Both have HORRIBLE pink/reddish hue about 1 inch from the edge (edit: edge sounded better). I'm sending them back as the pink hue is not pleasant to the eyes.

Too bad. Otherwise a nice IPS panel. no dithering at all when i look at my pictures and no banding when viewing gradients.

Both panels have "dark" patches and are visible at all times.

I'm just disappointed... but Geeks return was painless and rep was very courteous.

edit: one monitor has some thing loose in the housing. I can hear it when rotate the panel around.

i forgot about that thin layer of foam between the screen and the box. it's a miracle mine wasn't damaged because i could feel it shift in the box when i picked it up. UPS probably would have broken it and delivered it 9 hours later than FedEx did ;)

where did you find the display hours? all i can find in my menus is the serial number.

With monitor off, hold menu button, then push power button. Once on, release menu button and then press it again. In the menu, you should now have a "service" option.
