.22LR shooting at long ranges

I've shot a LOT of .22 and have a pretty decent respect for the little rimfire, but I would have never guessed it had this much oomph at longer ranges. Pretty much just sharing for any shooters who like rimfire shooting, seems the .22 is very much underrated!

great read. the Israeli snipers use a modified, silenced, 10/22 I recall reading. .22 leathality is the best kept secret. lets keep it that way.

Usually the guys walking around with the camo chef's hat 😕

As with most rounds, if you do your part, it will do its.

I love my .22's. I just wish there was a place in the whole state of Ohio to shoot that isn't a range.

I have no questions when it comes to the power of the .22

Whether it's my Walther P22 with Suppressor (favorite weapon of the CIA I hear) or my Ruger 10/22, it's a awesome round.

Will it stop an armored vehicle at 400 yards...no.

Can I load 25 round banana clips for $1.00 and unload on the zombies when SHTF? DAMN STRAIGHT.

5.56 NATO, lethal at 500 yards.

The 5.56 round is larger and moves at three times the velocity of the 22lr and with basic training you can hit the paper of a human sized target at 800 yards open sighted.

Check our Rimfirecentral.com

It's fun to participate in ther email matches. You just go out and shoot a regulation target and post your scores.

This just goes to show the power and responsibility that comes with any caliber firearm. 22's are not exempt from this is power and responsibility.

.22lr firearms are rarely targeted for regulation by gun-banning politicians when it is often the round that kills the most people in urban areas. This is due to the low cost of bullets and firearms and how concealable the guns are. It is a deadly round but this guys tests even surprised me.

I am impressed by this guys shooting. I found the amount of bullet drop on a 200 fps faster 22lr round and it is enormous. Could be as high as 6 - 10 feet at 300 yards. The bullet would practically be dropping on top of the target. Add in the high wind velocity and you have a very difficult shot. Makes me want to go out and test this.

I have a .22 mag. that I love. It's a fun little plinker rifle.

I have always touted the .22 mag as the ultimate survival gun. It will kill game at any practical range for hunting, and what other round can you use that 1500 rounds weighs only 17.5 pounds?
1500 rounds of .223 will put 62.5 pounds in your backpack!

There's a poster, can't remember his name (not this forum) who has a long range somewhere in the desert. For shiggles he shoots out 1000+ yards with rounds not made to go out that far.

Some of the drops are in dozens of yards. You can see the trail of the bullet, he's just lobbing the things out there. But he does make hits somewhat consistently. Nifty.

My grandfather shot a groundhog at over 350 yards with a .22

It was more of a lucky shot than skill. He was trying to scare it would stand up and my cousin could shoot it with his .222

When it disappeared, they went to check, and sure enough, right on target.

Long range rounds, tripod and scope.

Not standard plinking equipment

For a lot of people, yes it is. 😉

We used LR and open/round sights for food.

Difficult at more than 100-150 yds
