I was going through one of my backpacking gear tubs to get something. Anyway I look inside and there is fucking mold everywhere, and I'm like WTF initially thinking it's spider webs. I dig around and theres 3 inches of black water sloshing around and I immediately got light headed and had to run outside. Probably a combination of water, mold, and lighter fluid. There was a gallon of water in there that must have leaked out somehow. No clue, it's been at room temperature for like 6 months.

Aside from the permanent lung and brain damage, I just threw away like $200 of shit 🙁

Why would you have packed a container of water in with your gear for storage? PROTIP: When storing things, remove moisture.

Also, pics.

Lapse of judgment

On a side note, my storm door handle just broke and I locked myself outside for several minutes

Does this mean you're going to join the other sad sacks of the night and go on a "FML why do I bother" rant?

reminds me when I went to my kitchen for something the other day, and see Pepsi all over the floor. A can in my fridge randomly decided to explode, and it leaked out. That was a FML moment right there.

That stuff is so hard to clean too. Makes you wonder what it does to your body. Yet I still drink it.

Pfttt... you put a can in the freezer and left it there overnight... 🙂

Come on... we've all done it.

I have done that multiple times, forgetting a can. Now THAT sucks. But no this time it was in the fridge. I thought maybe the temp in the fridge was too low and they started freezing but I put a thermometer in there and it was registering around 2 degrees. Must have been a defective can or something.

Depending on what was in there, you didn't necessarily have to throw everything out. Soaking in bleach will fix most of it, but may ruin the appearance (not necessarily important).

Just bought a brand new chest freezer for the basement. A week later, my daughter is having a sleepover and buys a couple of bottles of sparkling grape juice. She knows I keep vodka in the kitchen freezer to keep it cold, so she thinks hey what a great idea, I'll put these bottles in the basement freezer so they'll be nice and cold for the party. Two days later, she checks the freezer....sticky grape slush and shards of glass everywhere. Took an hour to clean it all out and it still smells like grapes.
