220HTT x 10 or equivalent high bus overclocks

Have you ever fried a hard drive with such a over clock without a PCI/AGP locked mobo?

If there were signs to notice before it happens, what would they be? Bad sectors, sector buffer overruns, drive seek errors ect..

Or is there a better chance that one day the HDD simply wont boot? I'm afraid of my 220 overclock on my K8T A64 3000. Because it would be one hell of a guessing game to figure out which device failed by chance when my computer suddenly stopped booting.
