According to TFT Central:

"manufacturers have recently stated their intent to concentrate on 22" displays, and move away from the 20" market. I'd expect this to continue over the coming year, with new models hopefully offering more ergonomic and connectivity options. Since all the models available so far are TN Film based, it will be hard for manufacturers to introduce VA or IPS based models since it will inevitably mean higher prices. There have been rumours of P-MVA panels from AU Optronics in this size, but it remains to be seen whether this will happen and whether manufacturers will use them. My feeling is that we will only see TN Film in this sector for quite some time."

I agree with TFTCentral's sentiments. I don't believe we will ever see 22" non-TN panels. Many new panels that are coming out, regardless of size, will be TN. Specifically you will see many more TN+wide gamut panels to replace the VAs and IPS panels. There will be a few more P-MVAs (and will continue to be for sizes 24" and over, but especially 27" and over). It's likely that no S-IPS desktop monitors under $1200 will be released within the next year. It seems like S-IPS is at the last stage of death right now. This is how I see it happening:

Present (Jul 12):
limited S-IPS availability, VA displays <24" stagnating, TN displays constantly on the rise

...+1 year
very few/expensive S-IPS displays, only two to three new VA panel modules, TN+wide gamut panels rampant. More, expensive (up to $2000) LED-backlight LCDs out.

...+1.5 yrs
affordable LED-backlight LCDs start to appear

...+2 years
very few/expensive S-IPS displays, many new VAs: healthy market for big VAs with 120hz/etc, TN+wide gamut panels

...+3 years
-new tech such as field-sequential, color filter-less LCD for lower response time (still has problems at this point)

-maybe FED, SED prototypes, or perhaps the first OLEDs will appear

Practically all LCD module manufacturers are planning to or are producing wide gamut TN panels at this point. Like you see on the Starbucks cups, that's just "the way I see it."

So basically, based on xtknight's predictions, there's a hell of a lot of sh!t coming out for the next little bit, with fewer & fewer good LCDs to choose from.

Sadly, it seems like that's a pretty accurate future picture.

IOW, i am holding onto this 3007WFP & 204T for as long as possible i guess...

I currently have a Samsung SyncMaster 793s 17" CRT monitor. I want to upgrade soon.

My only concern was my GTS 320MB running demanding games at 1680x1050......
