I hope this is not a dumb question but I want to upgrade from my 17 inch CRT to either a 22 or 24 inch LCD monitor. I will primarily be using it to watch japanese anime and movies. I am not into the latest and greatest games, usually I am playing spider solitaire or Hoyle board games. And surfing the internet.
I read the LCD thread but I am still not sure if I should invest in 24 inch or try to get the best 22 inch money can buy. This will be my first LCD and want one that will last.
My video card is listed in my sig. I will be getting some extra money at the middle of this month and I want to get the best bang for the buck monitor. Unfortunately, I won't have much more than 300-400 dollars to spend.
Should I be concerned with HDMI at all?

Thanks in advance.

Third option: buy a crappy 22" until LCD tech improves. After my 21" CRT started having problems for the second time in 6 months I bit the bullet and got the Acer AL2216W for about $230. It's no CRT, and definitely a giant step down. But it should last me until OLEDs.

If you don't care for 1080p, then save some money and get a 22". It's getting harder and harder to find a decently priced non-TN 24".

For light gaming you should get a 22 inches wide screen LCD. my 17 inches crt died then I went and bought my first LCD monitor last year. It doesnt have HMDI but it has HDCP ready I dont know what it is for.

I was considering the Acer 2216 or the Benq G2400w or the Asus VW222U. I know that none of these will match a CRT but my crt is starting to do weird things and I would like a bigger screen. Unfortunately, brick and morter stores carry a limited selection of LCD's and even if they have the model, is the display set up properly.
I am not planning on getting a blu-ray player/burner until prices drop further so I will be sticking to the standard dvd's for awhile longer.
I have the Asus 3650 silent hdmi 512 ddr3 video card so I am sure I can support a 24 inch lcd if need be.

I have the Benq G2400w and I love it. It was 320 canadian so I'm sure it is cheaper down in the states.
