I was looking at those at Newegg:

Niko 2206
Chimei 221D
Acer 2223WD
Acer 2216WBD
BenQ FP222W, all for $300 +- $10.

From the specs, they're basically the same. I don't have any technical knowledge to tell them apart (panel types, etc..).

Any recommendations?

Also, there are 20.1 monitors for the same price, and similar specs, I'm not sure they would be of better quality.

The Samsung 226BW just came out, and people are raving about it over on Hard Forums. Also there's a Chinese site comparison, 226 easily won. Looks like it may be the best 22" out now.
Acer AL2216w
AOC 210V
ASUS MW221U
Meiji JT229ZP
LG L226WT
U.S.-Georgia WB22D
BenQ FP222W
Samsung 225BW
Samsung 226BW
ViewSonic VX2235wm
ViewSonic VX2245wm

Dell E228WFP 22" Widescreen - 21 day no questions asked shipped both ways Guarantee policy. I don't know how you can beat that other than it's great looks and DVI/HDPC and 3 Year warranty.

thats what I'm going with. If it counts for pixel issues as well. I have OCD's so I couldn't live with a dead/stuck pixel. Gonna buy one when I get my Xbox 360 in a few months. Gonna use my 19" widescreen for basic computing and switch over to the 22" for gaming.

I just posted elsewhere in this part of the board about a Sceptre 22" I'm RMA'ing to Newegg. GLad it's not on your list, it's just not a very impressive display.

Will check out the Samsung and Dell, thanks for the leads.

Brought the Samsung home today from a Circuit City across town, got a 10% off coupon from ebay. $341.99 plus tax.

I don't know much really about monitors, or their specs. I can eyeball the settings and then I let the Spyder2 I have take it from there. So I can't really comment about the claims on the box and bezel (2ms, 3000:1, etc.).

But I can tell you it's heads and tails above the Sceptre. I hate to shoot myself in the foot for that, because now I want to sell it, possibly will try here. The Samsung colors are much more rich, and the viewing angle before things drop off is much greater.

I'm really happy with this one. Makes me wonder how the Sceptre managed to get such great reviews on Newegg. Thanks OP for bringing this up and KevinC for mentioning this brand and model. I'm finally smiling!

My roomate has the 22" acer widescreen, not sure of the exact model. He likes it, and it looks pretty good to me as well.
